The Great Awakening

The first Human colony was visited by Enysia for 400 days and she gave them “new blessings and gifts.” In return, they honored her with celebrations and sacrifices.

Now the colony was better equipped to survive the thrashing Lothina and Selwin unleashed on them. As a result, the colony grew and expanded rapidly.

This moment in Veldian history is refered to as The Great Awakening. The first entry in The Book of Beginning records this history and it reads as follows:

Enysia came to us 400 days ago. Each day she gave us new blessings and gifts. Every 50 days we humbly thanked our blessed Mother. This is how it happened.

First, she gave us the knowledge of how Veldus and her family came to be, and the story of Korick bringing us to this Plane. For this, we sacrificed a bear and a lion in her honor.

Next, she gifted our strongest with divine powers. She gave us this power to fight back against Korick, and bring peace back to Veldus once more. For this, we sacrificed a phoenix and a manticore in her honor.

Next, she unlocked many mysteries about the universe and gifted us with powerful weapons. For this, we sacrificed a sphinx and a hydra in her honor.

Last, she pledged to seek Vengeance upon Korick if we pledged the same in return. For this, we sacrificed an eagle and a shark in her honor, and pledged to seek True Vengeance upon Korick.

These last 400 days have been a Great Awakening. Today marks the begining of the Dawn of Veldus. Let today be the First Day of the Bear Month in this First New Year.

The first entry by Kester Buiron was recorded the day after Enysia left. The people were inspired to write it down so future generations would remember.

Some in the colony took it upon themselves to continue the tradition of recording important stories and events the colony experienced so that future generations would learn from them. Eventually the stories by these early historians were compiled into a book known as The Book of Beginning. You can find it on most living room coffee tables around Veldus.

Seasons

There are 8 months in the year. Each month is 50 days long. Each month generally has the following seasons.

8	Shark	The end of fall occurs during this month.

Moon Cycles

A complete moon cycle takes 20 days. The waxing and waning phases each last for 8 days. The new and full moon phases each last for 2 days.
